WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Dental implants replace your missing tooth root and provide an anchor for your permanent or replaceable teeth. They are made to match natural teeth.

WHY HAVE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Preserve appearance

When teeth are lost, the bone and gums naturally recede, and over time this can change the shape of your face.

Dental implants transfer chewing forces to the jaw bone, which prevents bone resorption, as a result the implant fuses with the bone, becoming permanent.

Improved speech

With poor fitting dentures, the teeth can slip within the mouth causing difficulty speaking. Dental implants allow you to speak without the worry that teeth might slip.

Improved comfort

Because they become part of you, implants eliminate the discomfort of removable dentures.

Easier eating

Sliding dentures can make chewing difficult. Dental implants function like your own teeth, allowing you to eat your favourite foods with confidence and without pain, allowing for an improved diet.

Improve self-esteem

Dental implants are made to look realistic, allowing for a beautiful, comfortable smile, laughing, and kissing, as you once did, without the ongoing discomfort that other treatment methods can yield.

Improved oral health

Dental implants don’t require reducing other teeth, as a tooth-supported bridge does. As nearby teeth are not altered to support the implant, more of your own teeth are left intact, improving long-term oral health.

Individual implants also allow easier access between teeth, improving oral hygiene.

Durability

Implants are very durable and will last many years. With good care, many implants last a lifetime.

ARE THERE ANY DISADVANTAGES?

Placement of dental implants is a surgical procedure and as such carries certain risks.

Only a dental professional can evaluate whether you are suitable for implant treatment, and certain medical conditions might rule you out of implant treatment.

In some cases, restoration of your implant and smile can be done immediately. It is not always a quick fix and in some cases, the implant requires 4-12 weeks to integrate into the bone.

TESTIMONIALS

‘I was recommended to Mr Patel at Highfield Dental by a friend who had been very satisfied with the implant done for her there.

I went for a consultation with Mr Patel and was immediately impressed not only with his expertise but also his patience and considerate way of going over the whole procedure and what was involved in it. There was no rushed decision and he left me to weigh the whole thing over. He inspired my confidence as I could see he knew what he was talking about.

I have been very satisfied with the way Mr Patel and his staff proceeded throughout the whole time. He has worked to a high standard and his care has been most thoughtful.

I think his costs have been very reasonable too. I am very pleased with the implant and they seem just like part of me now, not as an extra denture would have been’. By P M W

‘I had an infection around the root of my tooth and so decided to have a dental implant as the best permanent longer term investment.

It was a bit painful, but I thought its worth it.

I chose Highfield Dental to provide the treatment because of Mr Patel. What a fantastic dentist. I was very nervous, but he took the time to walk me through every stage. He was honest with what to expect regarding pain/swelling and realistic on how long it would take. I couldn’t have asked for more’. By R S

‘I had a dead front tooth which happened after a knock in the face playing football. I decided to have an implant because it was a front tooth and it had become loose.

Since having the implant I have no pain from infections and a solid tooth that I no longer have to worry about.

It was a good investment of both time and money.

I would definitely advise others considering an implant to go for it. It can be a long process if you have to have bone rebuilt which I needed’. By A H

‘I had a tooth missing, gap in line of teeth and was self conscious. I chose to have an implant recourse I wanted something strong, reliable and durable.

I was getting too self-conscious about the gap, noticeable while smiling and it didn’t feel right, since I feel an increase in confidence whilst smiling and in social functions, through work and private life.

I am happy with the whole experience. I would advise others to go for it. Worth every penny. No pain or discomfort after the implant is in place.

I wasn’t sure at all to begin with. My visit and initial consultation helped me decide. I thought I was in good hands with Dr Salil. I am very happy with the implant and very grateful for your treatment and service’. By P C

‘Due to a bad fall which resulted in fracturing the root of my two front teeth, I had no option but to have them extracted.
I did not fancy dentures, so I opted for the only alternative IMPLANTS. Sceptical at first, but soon realised it was for the best.
All the pros and cons were explained to me, it was the best decision I have made.
You put me at ease I needed it at times) during every step of the treatment, which was fully explained to me. So pleased was I with the first implant, that I decided to go ahead and have another two Implants done.
For me I consider this was one of the best investments I could have wished for. I would highly recommend your practice for any dental treatment especially implants.
Am very grateful to you for the patience you showed to my granddaughters (you must have the patience of a saint)’. By J S

‘A couple of years ago one of my teeth, which was heavily filled, broke and there was no alternative but to have it removed.

I didn’t want to leave a gap and, after discussion and advice from Rifat (my dentist) and Salil, I decided that a dental implant was the best option. My son-in-law had an implant done by Salil previously and was very pleased with the result.

I was quite nervous, but Salil took time to explain everything to me. I was initially surprised that the whole process was done in stages over a few months, but was reassured that it was all being done properly. Salil has a very calm and gentle manner which put me at ease. If I had any worries or discomfort after any of the treatments, both Rifat and Salil were only too happy to see me at short notice.

I am very pleased with the result and don’t even think of it as an implant now-it looks and feels like one of my own teeth. Dental implants are fairly expensive but I felt that I was in ‘safe hands’ and for me it was the right choice’. By J G

‘I am a 63 year old long term insulin controlled diabetic and had a number of challenging dental issues. After having lost a strategic upper molar to root decay I decided to pursue dental implant surgery to restore my chewing capability rather than alternative methods such as dentures.

The initial process involved a CT scan of my jaw bone to see if it was feasible to support an implant. Fortunately, I was lucky to have enough bone to fix an implant and commenced the treatment process soon after.

I can now say with confidence that the time and money invested was well spent and I’m considering further implant surgery in the near future.

My advice to others is simple, modern implant surgery has advanced tremendously over recent years and is definitely worth considering, even if one doesn’t have enough supporting bone as there are additional techniques possible open to those with difficult dental challenges.

I chose Highfield Dental as I believed that they had the right expertise and professionalism to provide this treatment. I can honestly say that I made a wise choice and I’m now enjoying the positive benefit’. By J A
